Scholarship

Supporting our Basalt High School graduates in higher education and beyond

BEF supports eligible graduating seniors who strive to continue their academic careers on a path consistent with high achieving Basalt students. We are one of over 35 local scholarship funds and foundations that support and award deserving seniors on the road to a secondary education.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS - Each Spring BEF board members and select community volunteers read scholarship applications in search of high achieving students who might need help launching themselves to college.

Applications for 2023 scholarships will open in January 2023.

IN 2015 - Board members Erika Leavit, Kristen Maley and Tara Haas pioneered the BEF scholarship program. Since that time, BEF has awarded more than $100,000 in scholarship funds to more than 50 Basalt High School seniors ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 each. Funds come to BEF through sponsorships and at donor direction.

$113,000

IN JANUARY 2020, BEF proudly announced a windfall donation of $250,000 to fund an endowed scholarship for first-generation college-bound graduates of Basalt High School. Originating from two anonymous donors, the donation is facilitated by Missouri Heights residents Steve and Lee Rittvo who have been actively involved in Basalt education including BEF and Pre-Collegiate mentoring.

Basalt Education Foundation currently offers the following annual scholarships:
